Case 2: Ultimate Ski website

The client
Ultimate Sports publish illustrated guides for sports and adventure travel enthusiasts. Although their Ski and Dive books are successful, the company sees its future online and invited us to build their internet business together.

The website
After months of preparation, ultimate-ski.com was launched in January 2006. The site offers in-depth, unbiased ski resort guides, sourced from Ultimate Sports' guidebooks and its team of ski journalists. This keyword-rich content is a major factor in climbing the search engine rankings, along with backlinks we are building with various organisations in the ski industry.

The revenue model is based on advertising and provisions on sales of travel services by affiliate partners. We will also offer exclusive, well-targeted ski packages under the Ultimate Ski brand, sourced from a partner.

Our contribution
The Content Works developed the editorial and commercial strategy for the Ultimate Ski site and is now implementing both, including:

  • creating the site structure and navigation
  • managing site build by an external agency
  • adapting book content for the web
  • sourcing and implementing external content feeds
  • setting up and managing affiliate deals
  • partnering with hotel bookings and white-label travel package providers
  • project management
